Effective date: 3 September 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of PayUp (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Who we are

Eligibility & Accounts

  • You must be authorised by your club to use PayUp.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • Owners, Super Admins, and Admins may manage club and team settings and assign payments, in line with their role's permissions. Players can view and pay payments associated with their account. A club may run more than one team, and a player may belong to more than one team within the same club.

Payments

  • Payments (club fines, membership fees, and referee fees) are created and managed by authorised club staff. PayUp provides tools to track payments and facilitate payment.
  • Online payments — by card (including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay), Klarna (Pay Later), or UK bank Direct Debit (Bacs), where enabled by your club — are processed securely by Stripe via Stripe Connect. PayUp does not collect, process, or store your card or bank account details — all payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and its payment method providers in accordance with PCI-DSS standards. Where you pay by Direct Debit, you'll be shown Stripe's Direct Debit mandate and the Direct Debit Guarantee before confirming your bank details.
  • A platform fee of 5% + 20p is applied to online card and Bacs Direct Debit payments, and 7.5% + 20p to Klarna payments. This fee is deducted from the club's share and is clearly shown before you confirm payment.
  • In addition to per-transaction fees, clubs pay a subscription to use PayUp after their free trial ends, billed monthly or annually as shown at checkout. Subscription terms — trial length, pricing, and cancellation — are set out on the pricing page and in your club's Billing settings.
  • Payments may also be made via bank transfer or other methods configured by your club, or recorded manually by a club admin (e.g. for cash payments). PayUp records the payment reference and amount but does not intermediate those transactions.
  • Payment status is marked as received only when confirmed by the club or automatically by Stripe. Until then, your balance may remain outstanding.
  • Late fees: Your club may apply late fees (e.g., £2 per week or per payment) as configured by the club. See in-app notices for current policy.

SMS Communications

  • By providing a mobile phone number to PayUp or your club, you agree to receive text messages about your account, including automatic payment reminders and, where applicable, one-off registration reminders and admin announcements.
  • These are transactional/service messages related to your account and payments, not marketing, so they're sent automatically and there is no separate opt-out toggle. To stop receiving them, remove your phone number from your account in Account settings.
  • Standard message and data rates from your mobile network provider may apply.

Refunds and Cancellations

  • Payments paid via card through Stripe are generally non-refundable unless your club admin agrees to issue a refund.
  • Refund requests should be directed to your club administrator in the first instance.
  • If a refund is agreed, it will be processed back to the original payment method via Stripe. Refunds typically take 5–10 business days to appear on your statement.
  • Unlike card payments, a Bacs Direct Debit payment can be reversed by the payer's bank at any time, even after it has been marked as paid. If this happens, the payment will be marked unpaid again and your club admin will be notified.
  • PayUp is not responsible for disputes between players and clubs regarding the validity of payments. Such disputes should be resolved within your club.
  • If you believe a payment was taken in error, contact us at the email address below.

Acceptable Use

  • Do not misuse the Service (e.g., unauthorised access, interference, reverse engineering, distribution of malware, or illegal activity).
  • Only upload or enter content you have the right to share, and ensure it is lawful and not offensive or discriminatory.

Governing Law

These Terms and any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms in the app and update the effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
